The beginning of a diagnosis can feel scary and confusing. Early on, cancer patients can be overwhelmed with managing cancer on top of their everyday life. Our favorite product in this box is “The Better Book” which is a health planner (written by a cancer caregiver) to help organize appointments, medications and questions. Patients in this part of their diagnosis start to travel a lot. We’ve included a travel cup that can be used hot or cold, tea and oatmeal bars for a quick and easy snack. Patients may have surgery as the initial part of their treatment, so we’ve included aloe wipes for when showering might be difficult. These can also be comforting after radiation. Also, we’ve added calendula soap which is great for sensitive skin. Other items include a travel first aid kit with fun bandaids (because the hospital ones are boring). The ice packs can be used cool for post-surgery or radiation comfort. Also, they can be used warm on a vein to help get an IV placed (no one likes getting more than one poke). This package is great for sending to someone right after their diagnosis or before/after their surgery. As always, selected items in each of our care packages are already gift wrapped when shipped.
